Our Process

How We Work With Clients

Implement Legal operates on a systematic three-step process: initial consultation, strategic proposal, and implementation. This structure ensures clients receive precise legal counsel matched to their specific business challenges—not generic advice or unnecessary services.

Our process sets the tone for a productive relationship to help achieve your goals:

Initial Consultation

In a 30-minute, no-charge conversation, we will learn about you and your creative business and discuss why you are looking for a lawyer.

In a 30-minute consultation, we assess your business model, current legal infrastructure, and immediate challenges. We explain our process, pricing structure, and whether your needs match our practice areas.

Not every consultation results in engagement. We work with creative businesses that need ongoing strategic counsel or complex project-based work. If your legal needs fall outside our expertise or require different service models, we'll direct you to appropriate resources.

Project Meeting

In this phase, we will recommend a plan for legal services to accomplish your goals.

Following the initial consultation, we prepare a written proposal outlining recommended legal work, timeline, and pricing. Proposals follow one of two models:

  • Project: Discrete legal projects with defined scope and fixed pricing. Projects are scheduled when you're ready to proceed and typically include contract review, trademark applications, agreement drafting, or specific legal research. All project fees are fixed or hourly with not-to-exceed caps.

  • Loops & Leaps™: For complex legal needs requiring comprehensive analysis, we conduct a strategic planning session to map your complete legal infrastructure. This session examines current contracts, IP portfolio, partnership agreements, risk exposure, and growth plans. We deliver a prioritized action plan identifying critical legal work, recommended projects, and systematic protection strategies.

We send an engagement letter with the proposal. Work begins upon your approval.

Implementation

All proposals specify timeline, deliverables, and pricing. We structure projects in three timeframes:

  • One-Week Projects

Limited-scope work completed within one week of receiving necessary information. Examples: contract review, preliminary trademark search, single agreement drafting.

  • One-Month Projects

Standard projects completed in approximately four weeks. Examples: business sale documentation, full trademark clearance and filing, copyright registration portfolio, licensing agreement negotiation.

  • Quarterly Projects:

Complex, multifaceted work completed within three months. Examples: comprehensive IP audits, business formation with complete legal infrastructure, acquisition or restructuring documentation.

All proposals include fixed pricing or hourly rates with not-to-exceed caps. We communicate immediately if scope changes require pricing adjustments. Proposals specify completion timelines to keep your business operations on schedule.

The Intangibles

Beyond credentials and project deliverables, effective IP counsel requires pattern recognition across creative industries. We've seen how gallery representation agreements affect future museum acquisitions. How record label terms shape merchandise deals. How early corporate structure decisions complicate later investment rounds.

This experience means we prevent problems most attorneys don't even see coming. We know which contract terms will create issues in three years. Which IP registrations protect your business model versus which just add administrative burden. When litigation will destroy more value than it protects.

Most attorneys solve the problem in front of them. We solve the problem in front of you while preventing the three problems you haven't encountered yet.

  • Before legal issues become urgent. We handle crisis situations, but our systematic approach works best when we can prevent problems through proper documentation, IP protection, and contract review before conflicts arise.

  • You can find information about our rates on this page: Fees

  • After you sign up for a consultation, you will receive instructions from our team to help you organize and prepare.
